Mellerup Cup

2024

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Mellerup Cup on Sunday. It was well represented, played in a great atmosphere and an excellent advert for competitive, social tennis at the Club.

The champion from the ladies' half of the draw was Janine Harris; the champion from the men's half was Alex Hawkins. CONGRATULATIONS! to Janine, who defended her title from 2023 and CONGRATULATIONS! to Alex who won on his first appearance in the competition 👏. The runners-up prizes went to Pam Parsons and Phil Morris.

Thanks also to those who came down to lend their support from the sidelines and to Jan and Janine for providing cakes and treats.

2023

It was great to bring back the Mellerup Cup tournament after a few years of it not being able to be run!

The weather was perfect and made all the more enjoyable by the fantastic spread of cakes and bakes provided by everyone that turned out. The winners were Matt Lorkin & Janine Harris [pictured] with the runners up of Phil and Ange Morris.

Thanks to all those that participated to make the event as good as it was. If anyone has any feedback, ideas or preferences for future tournaments / formats then please get in touch.

2021

The Mellerup Cup returned on Saturday 22nd May after cancellations due to the weather and of course COVID-19.

6 pairs took part in this mixed doubles round robin tournament starting at 11.00 and finishing at 16.00. Judith Walton and Martin Tucker were the winners, runners up were Sue Woodward and Phil Barnes.

2017

Cam and Dursley Tennis Club had its first tournament of the season, The Mellerup Cup on Sunday 30th April.

9 pairs took part in this mixed doubles round robin tournament starting at 11.00 and finishing at 17.00. Angela Morris and Matt Lorkin were the winners, runners up were Sue Woodward and Phil Morris.

Cam and Dursley Tennis Club had its first tournament of the season, The Mellerup Cup on Sunday 1st May.

8 pairs took part in this mixed doubles round robin tournament starting at 11.00 and finishing at 18.00. Matt Lorkin and Steve Heaven finished with 42 points. A doubles final was played to decide the winner

14 pairs took part in this mixed doubles round robin tournament starting at 11.00 and finishing at 18.00. The winners were Matt Lorkin and Julie Hearn they were presented with the cup by Val Ford.

11 pairs took part in this mixed doubles round robin tournament starting at 11.00 and finishing at 18.00. The winners were Matt Lorkin and Sue Reynolds they were presented with the cup by Judith Walton.

Sue Reynolds and the second place lady Sue Woodward were on equal points, they played a decider set. Phil Barnes runner up to Matt Lorkin who won by 3 points. You can see more photographs of the day in the album on the gallery page.
